Instagram ads for interior designers: how much to spend first

The short answer

Instagram ads run through Meta, the company that owns Instagram and Facebook. So the same budget usually covers both.

The right budget for Instagram ads for interior designers is an amount you can spend for a full month without getting nervous in week two. For a designer's first 30 days, I use ₹500 a day, which comes to ₹15,000, or about ₹17,700 with GST. That's enough to try a few ads in one city. It won't reach everybody, and it doesn't need to.

That's just my choice, not a rule. First, do the maths for your own business.

Why a small budget can work

Instagram ads for interior designers can work on a small budget because you don't need thousands of customers. One signed home can be worth far more than a month of ads. So you're not trying to reach everyone. You just need a few homeowners nearby who are serious.

A small budget does have limits. You can only try a few ads at a time, and results jump around from day to day. One good or bad week doesn't tell you much.

Start from one project

To set your budget for Instagram ads for interior designers, answer these with your own numbers:

  1. What is one signed project usually worth to you, after your own costs?
  2. Out of 100 serious enquiries, how many usually sign?
  3. So how much could you afford to pay for one enquiry, and still be glad?

Here's the sum with simple round numbers. They only show the method. They aren't a prediction or a real result.

Example calculation
Ad money₹15,000
If one enquiry costs₹500
You'd get30 enquiries
If 5 out of 100 sign1.5 projects

Change any one of those and the answer changes a lot. You can try your own numbers in our calculator.

How to spend the money

  • Try a few ads, not one. With three ads, you can see which one brings real people.
  • Stay in your own area. Only show ads where you're happy to go for a site visit.
  • Ask for enquiries, not likes. Choose the "leads" goal in Meta, and don't press the boost button.
  • Ask questions in the form. Home type, area, timing, and budget. You'll get fewer enquiries, but better ones.

That's how to run Instagram ads for interior designers on a small budget without wasting it.

Mistakes that waste money

  • Judging it on day three. Meta needs time, and a few enquiries won't tell you if an ad is good.
  • Slow replies. A homeowner who filled in a form today may have forgotten you by next week.
  • Counting likes. Count enquiries, then site visits, then signed projects.
  • Using someone else's photos. It isn't honest, and it falls apart at the first site visit.

Questions

Can I start with ₹200 a day?

You can. You'll just learn much more slowly, because fewer people see each ad, and it may take months to know what works. It's usually better to spend a proper amount for a shorter time than a tiny amount forever.

Is GST extra?

Yes. Meta adds 18% GST on ads in India, so ₹15,000 of ads comes to about ₹17,700. Check your Meta billing page for the exact amount.

When should I spend more?

When you know what one good enquiry costs you, and those enquiries are turning into site visits. Before that, more money mostly means learning the same lesson more expensively.
